Welcome to term 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to class 2. We have lots of exciting things planned for term 2. Our reading book changing days will continue to be Mondays, and Thursdays. Please continue to bring in reading records and reading books every day. Our PE session will take place on a Wednesday afternoon with Allstars.

Our topic for Term 2 is Once upon a time! We are looking forward to reading and writing lots of traditional tales. In science, the class will be focusing on working scientifically and what it means to be a scientist. They will be doing lots of experiments based on different traditional tales. In history we will be learning about life in a castle and comparing it to our lives today. In geography we will be learning about physical and human features of our environment. Children will be developing their art skills with Mrs Clune, who has lots of fun activities lined up, including building castles! Please could your child bring in their own cardboard junk model material for their castle – for example cardboard boxes, smaller boxes kitchen roll tubes etc. in a named carrier bag by Tuesday 17th November.

Our key story for the term is ‘The Three Little Pigs’. We will be acting out the story and becoming familiar with some of the interesting language that is used. In Maths we will be focusing on number and place value, stretching all the way to 100! We will also continue learning about addition and subtraction.

It’s the Christmas term and although we sadly cannot do a Christmas nativity with Class 1 and Class 3 as we usually do, we will be doing something special in our bubble. Watch this space!

In Phonics, we will be separating the class into phonics groups to ensure that we are progressing on from our learning from the previous term.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to come and find a member of the team.
