Term 3

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back into Class 4. I hope that you all enjoyed your break. We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the gifts and cards received by Class 4 staff- they were greatly appreciated.

The topic for this term is ‘Warriors’. We will be focusing on the book, ‘Beowulf and the Monster’ by Brian Patten, during our English lessons. Any information you have at home on the topic that the children could share with the class would be great. I am hoping to have a topic day to give the children the opportunity to come to school dressed as warriors and participate in a selection of topic-based activities.

Homework tasks will be set in the next few weeks; the children seem to have enjoyed the freedom of the homework last term, so I hope they will show as much enthusiasm this term as we continue with the list of various activities.

In Maths, we will be focusing on fractions and measurements and improving our knowledge in these areas. Once again, I would like to promote the ‘Times Table Rockstar’ game that we are using across the school to encourage children to learn their times tables in a fun and engaging way.

In English lessons, along with using our ‘Talk 4 Writing’ book, we will be looking at poetry.

In Science, we will be looking at animals, including humans. We will be looking at food chains, the human digestive system and the changes as humans develop into old age.

PE will continue to be taught on a Tuesday, but once again please could all children have their PE kits in school every day with long hair tied back and earrings taken out.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to speak to me at the end of the school day.

Kind regards,

Miss Glover and the Class 4 team.
