Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back into Class 4. I hope that you all enjoyed your break and you took some time to relax. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for the gifts, cards and continued support received by class 4 staff- they were greatly appreciated.
The topic for this term is ‘The River Severn’. We will be focusing on the book, ‘Why the Whales came’ by Michael Morpurgo, during our English lessons.
Homework tasks: the children seem to have enjoyed the freedom of the homework last term, so I hope they will show as much enthusiasm this term as we continue with the list of various activities. Here is the activity sheet- river severn homework
In Maths, we will be focusing on fractions and measurements and improving out knowledge in these areas. Once again, I would like to promote the ‘Times Table Rockstar’ game that we are using across the school to encourage children to learn their times tables in a fun and engaging way. I have been impressed with the children and their determination to learn their times tables.
In Science we will be looking at properties and changes of materials. Mrs Malkin hopes to carry out lots of experiments and get the children to start making scientific predictions.
PE will continue to be taught on a Thursday, but once again please could all children have their PE kits in school every day with long hair tied back and earrings taken out.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to speak to me at the end of the school day.
Miss Glover and the Class 4 team.
