Final Term in Reception

Dear Parents/Carers,

We hope you have had a lovely half term and that you all enjoyed some Jubilee celebrations with friends and family.

This term our Topic is ‘Growing’.  We will be looking at life cycles, including the lifecycle of a butterfly, where we are eagerly awaiting for our caterpillars to arrive in the classroom…it is a secret surprise for the class so please don’t tell them just yet!  During our trip to Redwood (Thursday 9th June) the children will be going on a minibeast hunt through the meadow and woodland area as well as participating in pond dipping.

We will of course be doing some planting of seeds, so if you do have any spare small plastic plant pots that you are able to donate to the class – we would be very appreciative!

We will focus on several stories and information books about minibeasts and growing plants, including ‘Eddie’s Garden’ by Sarah Garland, ‘The Hungry Caterpillar’ by Eric Carle and the fun and exciting adventures of ‘Supertato’ by Paul Linnet and Sue Hendra.

Please find the Class 1 Topic plan attached to give you a better overview of your child’s learning this term.

Warm regards,

The Class 1 Team – Mrs Baird, Mrs Clune and Mrs Pearce
