Choosing a school for your child is a big decision, whether that is for a four year old starting at their first school, or if you are new to the area or if you feel you need to change schools.
We would always advice parents and carers to look around a number of schools, talk to the head teacher about what you want for your child and to other parents about their experience of the school. Sometimes it just feels the right place for your child.
For children joining Reception, parents and carers will be sent a link to an on-line application form in November. This needs to be completed by early January and you will hear of your school allocation on the National Offer Day in May. There are then opportunities to request a reallocation, but hopefully you have got your first choice. All the relevant dates are in the Admissions Policy – follow the link.
All other applications for places are made directly to the school. Application forms are available from the school office or on the Gloucestershire County Council Website. http://www.gloucestershire.gov.uk/schooladmissions
This process is very quick and you will be told if there is a place available in that year and whether your child can start. These applications can be made at any time and are called In-Year transfers. If there are no places available you would need to appeal to Gloucestershire County Council, and they will support you to find a school place for your child. If you are unsure of how to proceed please contact the school and we are happy to help.
Slimbridge Primary School does not discriminate against SEND children, but will always consider if we can fulfil their needs. Every child adds a dimension to the school, but we want to be able to provide the best possible education, support and care.
Slimbridge Primary school are guided by the Gloucestershire County Council procedures for admissions of children, please see our Admissions Policy
